On April 27th, Charter Oak Cultural Center presented the Poetry Bus. It is a CT transit vehicle featuring excerpts from poems written by the Youth Arts Initiative students that included our very own author and co-owner, Olivia Lauren. Poetry on the streets founder Melanie Farenlla has the youth create poems inspired by Frederick Douglass and Robert Hayden's poem, "Frederick Douglass." he Poetry Bus was inspired by a desire to empower young writers by sharing their words with the greater community in public spaces and to connect transit + poetry. The poetry Bus is on the streets and can be seen around Greater Hartford through June 6.
