The Golden Life of Sally Sunflower by Imani Ariana Grant takes readers along with Imani on a field trip to a plant nursery. They want to learn how plants grow and once they reach there everyone goes their separate ways. Imani hears a small voice down below and she sees Sally, a little seed, at her feet. Sally wants help and she asks Imani to put her in soil and make sure she has enough water and sunlight. Imani takes her home and Sally finds a perfect home in Imani's backyard. Every day Imani checks on Sally and Sally gives her information on how she has grown into a sprout. What type of plant will Sally turn out to be? Let us read the book to find out.
The story makes learning science interesting, and young readers discover how plants are grown, photosynthesis, chlorophyll, pollination, and pistils. The book is educational and informative, and the wonderful and bright illustrations by Simonne-Anais Clarke and Zachary-Michael Clarke bring the concept alive and make it easy for children to understand the process of growing plants, photosynthesis, reproduction, etc. The fun facts at the end of the book are helpful, the photosynthesis chart is interactive and useful, and the cycle of growing a plant makes the book engaging and entertaining to children. Learning about science and about plants can be challenging to young readers and this book helps them enjoy the process of planting a seed and watching it grow. Let us all try planting seeds in the backyard and watch them grow into plants.

from 14 reviewsI wish I had this story while teaching first and second grade. The information is easy to understand, and the illustrations are eye-catching. The bold font makes the words jump off the page, and the brightly colored vocabulary words match the words in the diagrams, making it easy for the reader to learn new words and make connections. Imani did a great job explaining the life cycle of a plant. Additionally, she encourages her readers to do a hands-on experiment with planting a seed and recording the data. Her readers will love seeing Imani take a selfie with a plant. The Golden Life of Sally Sunflower will inspire children to learn more about plants and explore becoming scientists.

This children’s book hits “home” My children are grown now and are educators. I know they would’ve loved this book because of the fun facts and seeing families that resemble them and their friends. Even as adults we enjoyed reading it and I’m looking forward to more adventures of Malachi and Karelle.

It was nice to shop with various options on diversity. My children love their book about promises. We will continue shopping for more books!

I have to speak about this book ASAP because @laurensimonepubs (Instagram) was so kind to send me a copy to review. In short, I was and am still in awe at every detail and illustration. This book has a wealth of knowledge. This book exemplifies what the adage means, “Big things come in small packages.” If you want a quick and easy way to share with your kiddo what different cultures wear, why and how, you absolutely need this book. There is no book like it! Even as an adult it was a good refresher for multi-cultural traditional and non-traditional clothing. I even learned new information as well. I implore you to get this book ASAP and share it with your class, your kiddos in your family, everyone. 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you again @laurensimonepubs for sending me this. This book is so fun! Beautiful illustrations and musical story.

I like the varied range of occupations presented in the book. 4 Stars

As a Mom I love how thorough these books are about different ways to communicate, occupations, types of clothes and travel. Our favorite book was the one about types of travels. The occupations book is a little long for bedtime but a great resource and we’re reading a few pages each night. My 3 year old loves listening to these and looking at the illustrations. I love The diversity of the images.

I love this book! When I purchased it, I intended to read it to my lovely kids in the classroom. Obviously, I have to rethink this. So, Olivia Lauren's Occupations A to Z: A Guide to Jobs and Careers Book will be read and discussed via Google Meet in my Google classroom on Monday. I will try to share a snippet with you!
