Beau Noir Publishing, owned and operated by author Monique Curry-Mims, was founded in 2017 to develop and promote media that represents African American youth. Located in Philadelphia, PA, Beau Noir's mission is to inspire and educate African American youth. In meeting this mission, they publish books by Black authors and promote other Black authors. Their motto “Black and Brilliant” launched a movement which includes an apparel line and a book club that that explores and promotes representation and celebration of African American and black brilliance, while educating and growing the love of reading in our youth!
On June 4, 2018, Beau Noir and Lauren Simone Pubs entered into partnership to help promote awareness of diverse children’s books. Pictured below is Monique Curry-Mims with authors, Dr. Melissa-Sue John and Shaneika Burchell-Kerr taken at the Beau Arts Book Festival on April 8, 2018.
